Steps for Recovery 2011
Recovery Revolution, Inc. held their 3rd annual fundraiser on October 7th, 2011 at Wilson Area High School. They featured a high end tricky tray with over 45 baskets, a “classic cuisine and culinary treats” food sampling extravaganza, and a 90 minute comedy show. Recovery Revolution would like to thank our corporate sponsors for making this event possible: NC D&A Administration, Merchants Bank, First Niagara Bank, Dr. Craig Haytmanek, We Care 4 U Insurance, VF Majestic, Hopesprings Community of Faith, and Ultra-poly.
Recovery Revolution had 16 food vendors serving up signature dishes from Chicken Scampi to Gourmet Cupcakes. At 8:15pm, a crowd of over 275 people moved to the auditorium at Wilson High to listen to Executive Director, Jana Morris, acknowledge the event sponsors, thank the volunteers, and talk about Recovery Revolution. Jana Morris commented, “It is events like these that really show the importance of community collaboration. I am overwhelmed with gratitude to all the support that Recovery Revolution has received.”
At 8:30 pm, the celebrity comedian Mark Lundholm made his way to the stage for a comedy show. Mark used his own experience with addiction and recovery to shed light on some topics that are rarely discussed in public. Attendees remarked that they found the show inspiring, authentic, and hilarious. Wilson Area SADD students helped sell tickets to the event as well as volunteered at the show. The students from Wilson were truly committed to the cause, selling over 45 tickets and collecting tricky tray items. Recovery Revolution, as a thank you for their efforts, will be making a donation to the SADD organization at Wilson.
